Hodka: A Remote Desert Village Experience in Gujarat

Hodka, a village rich in arts, crafts, and culture, approximately 63km from Bhuj in Gujarat, is and ought to be visited by every tour aficionado. Located within the Kutch district, Hodka receives its name from the Gujarati word ‘hodi ‘, which means boat. While it was first believed to be inhabited by the Halepotra clan around 300 years ago, it has most effectively started getting the limelight.

The first aspect that’ll attract you the moment you attain Hodka is the colorful apparel of the human beings right here and the first-rate display of arts and crafts. The village is also famous for its leather-based craft paintings, which you must return home as a souvenir. Embroidery paintings are also rampant right here: check out the conventional running stitch in products like purses, skirts, choli, covers, covers for cattle horns, door putting, and embroidered items embellished with mirror shells, beads, and tassels.

Once you’ve gotten beyond the attractive handicrafts, the structure and sample of the houses will interest you. Here, the places are commonly dusty homes; the villagers paint them with dung and herbal dyes in earthy tones. Even though Gujarat faces excessive heat during the 12 months, the interiors of those houses are fantastic.

It’s incredibly encouraging that you take a manual on an excursion to the village; he can introduce you to the locals, and you could then engage with them, learning their way of life. If you have some extra time, go on an excursion trip to the wetlands of Chhari Dhand, where you will spot the first-rate type of resident and migratory birds. Do not forget to carry binoculars and watch for the Dalmatian pelican, oriental darter, black-necked stork, raptors, commonplace cranes, and the Indian Skimmer. You can also enjoy a single-day camel safari at Hodko, one of the village’s most well-known activities.

A safari evokes a romantic picture of a tour across jungles and mountains. Earlier safaris had been taking walks; however, the modern-day safari is often performed using a four-wheeled, pushed automobile. The wilderness safari is another mutation of the age vintage safari and is every bit as thrilling. To be precise, Dubai gives a barren region safari, essentially a journey via the dunes.

The desolate tract is a barren area made from sand and small hillocks called dunes. These dunes are peculiar in that they are no longer static and preserve transferring with the course of sturdy winds. When shifting inside the wilderness, sand storms are relatively commonplace, and at that time, visibility may be decreased to 0. Thus, there’s a need for a unique 4×4 wheeled automobile. Generally, in Dubai, the Toyota Land Cruiser could be very common. The car is roomy and, with AC on, does not get heated in the warm wilderness. Earlier desert safaris were on camels – but that is a bygone age.

While in Dubai, you can ebook a desert safari with any of the umpteen tour operators available. All excursion operators who run the Dubai desert safaris follow set directions and regimes. You will invariably be picked up out of your motel or region of stay. This is in the morning, and you’ll be a part of a collection of six who all tour together.

All the motors gather at a start line. As a rule, no single vehicle can exit the desert. It can be risky, as disorientation can cost you your existence. Thus, a whole fleet moves together. This is an exciting experience; the safari will usually power on in the barren region and converge on a camel farm. You can then have a quick affair at the camel. And still, have a look at how camels are bred.

The safari will then pass on and take you to Bedouin camp. This is a splendid revel, and you will see how the Bedouins- the earlier nomads live within the desert. A Bedouin camp will have an oasis, and you can sense the calm waters and the romantic surroundings. Local girls may even apply exclusive henna designs for you. Bedouin camps have recently gained all the basic amenities, and you can freshen yourself. You will also be served an unforgettable barbeque dinner with Lebanese girls doing a stomach dance to your advantage.

The stomach dance is the excessive factor of the evening, and now and again, women from Mumbai are also drafted for this show. The belly dance signals the quit of the safari, which can take 5 to 6 hours. They are generally priced between $ 50 to $ sixty-five per person. This price includes pick up and drop, meals and refreshments, camel rides, and applying Henna and Mehandi for overseas ladies. All in all, it’s been an exciting day out.

I love adventure. That got me into travel blogging, which is now my full-time gig. I started traveling when I was 19, and I haven't stopped. I try to document my journeys as they happen. In the beginning, I just wanted to see the world, but as time passed, I became more interested in writing the things that matter most to me. I like to share these stories because they show my gratitude to the people who made my dreams come true. I love to connect with people, so I would be honored to be part of your team.
